We Live in New York
Say hello to the newest New Yorkers you know! Yep, here we are living in New York City. I'm not entirely sure what that means yet. We've been here a week, just long enough to memorize our new address, for TJ to figure out how to get to work, and for me to unpack most of our belongings.
(Our new street and entrance to our building)
This is definitely the coolest but craziest, most exciting but expensive thing we have done together yet.
Cool because of the natural awe of city life. (tall buildings in every direction, so many different people hustling about, so much to do and see and eat, ease of getting around on the subways or buses, etc.)
Crazy because of the new adjustments necessary after moving to the big apple. (the need for much better walking shoes, figuring out what groceries to get since I only have my own two hands to carry it home - goodbye cart-full shopping trips to Costco or WalMart, the cost of living here still makes me a little sick to my stomach, understanding the New York accent, etc.)
Exciting because it's a new place, new friends, new job and new experiences. (stories to tell the kids one day right?)
(We live in the Upper East Side, East of Central Park. TJ works in East Midtown but has training in the Financial District for the next six weeks.)
Expensive because it's Manhattan and it wants to take all my money. (I get how many square feet for what price?! That's the monthly rent for that studio?! How much is that box of cereal and gallon of milk?!)
HOWEVER, when all is said and done I think we are going to absolutely love it here. Stay tuned for more to come!
